“This is a sweet, happy song about finding unconditional love,” Tems tells Apple Music about “Love Me JeJe,” the track heading up The Agenda this week. “It’s about the joy of finding a love that doesn’t run out and not settling for anything else.” Taken from her debut album Born in the Wild, “Love Me JeJe” is an intoxicating refresh of singer-songwriter Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 track of the same title. “I wanted to pay tribute to the actual song,” says Tems. “My mum loves the song. It’s a Nigerian classic. It just felt right. The concept is ‘Love me softly, take your time with me, love me unconditionally.’ It’s like, ‘Give me some sugar.’” Elsewhere, you can also hear essential new music from Young T & Bugsey, Gunna, and Byron Messia & Lil Baby. Remember: The Agenda is always on the move, so if you hear something you like, add it to your library.
