The Woesome Famine

The hostiles came, surrounded us The walls were seized with fire The sea is swarmed with their snake-boats The sky is strewn with wires There's no escape from misery The foes are suffocators The famine gan, fear's everywhere We won't be broken, we will fight! The coldness came It spares no one, no clear soul It ruins the living We eat the men and animals The brutal winter The famine began! Aah, eaten all horses and rats We cook tanned skin from the boots Madness in minds under hats We kill our babes Devouring them! Everywhere grief and tears Of mothers-filicides Rotting old people Groans and wails pierce the sky Neva is full of corpses Petersburg like Death's bride Pestiferous pits Swarm with our prayers Erected to cruel gods How much can a man endure? He can prevail against himself And turn the world around That there was no more war! We are like shadows We wander through the streets We're hungry barebones Unhumanly we wanna eat! All grief on earth comes to an end The sun is coming out to sky A lot of suffering have down A man becomes a god!
