New Magic

There is something about this time of year And somehow a magic fills the air There is something about this time of year That draws us back to love I remember as a child thinking everything was magic I guess I was sheltered, for I knew of nothing tragic It came as such a shock when reality sunk in To know so many people live with so much suffering We learn as we grow how to deny and hide But that's not the way to make life a good ride Our friendships and loves are places we can share That's how we make kindness more common than rare There is something about this time of year Tnd somehow a magic fills the air There is something about this time of year That draws us back to love Oh, won't we find It's better to be kind 'Til the tyrants tremble When our hearts assemble When our love comes together In community I celebrate this season that shifts our understanding Of who our neighbor is, keeps our circles expanding But why should we save such loveliness for one day Let's fill the whole year with songs that truly say There is something about this time of year And somehow a magic fills the air There is something about this time of year That draws us back to love
