Save Me

One time, not so long ago, the love of God I did not know

I lived my life to my own desires with no humility

I’d lay me down each night to sleep, I felt no need the Lord to seek

Until one night I heard a voice and it said this to me

"Tonight, what if your soul was due and the chilly hand of death touched you?

If you could have just one more chance, what would you ask of Me?"

My heart was trembling deep within fear as the voice of God fell on my ear

These are the words that came from me as I cried out on my knees

"Help me to love my neighbor

Give me a faith that won’t waiver

Save me though I’m not worthy

Lord of Heaven, save me"

I thought of all my life of sin, I had no way to make amends

As I stood in judgement shadow just a broken man

And then He said these beautiful words

"I forgive" was what I heard, and as I shouted loud for joy

I knelt and cried again

"Help me to love my neighbor
