Temptation

I lie awake at night thinking about it,

Throughout the day I can’t get it out of my head,

I tell myself I can’t do without it,

There’s a hunger that has to be fed.

Temptation always clouding my mind,

Wanting what I shouldn’t but I need,

Tempting me all the time.

I don’t know how it all gets started,

I tell myself that I should just walk away,

Then I find myself right back in it,

It’s so hard to do what’s easy to say.

All I seem to do is think about it,

Sleepless and strung out of my mind,

I didn’t have the strength to say no,

It happens all the time.
