I know the chicks back home

Are gonna jump and shout

When they hear old Tricky Dicky

Busted out

The guard, he was sleepin' in the noonday sun

Now, flies were buzzin' all around his ol Pa rabbits gun

I slipped down off the rock-pile I was a-workin' on now

When that guard woke up, I was over, up and gone

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Go and tell Miss Lucy Brown

Tricky Dicky's comin' to town

I headed for the river, I was a-movin' Jack, now

The sheriff and his dog were breathin', whoa, hard down my back

Now the river sure was muddy and that shore was wide now

I leapt up when I saw the mongrel, whoa, on the other side

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Go and tell Miss Sally Black

Tricky Dicky's comin' back, hey

Tricky Dicky, you know it's true

I sit here just waitin' for you

Well, I met a gal who saw me and she gave me a shower

I thought it wouldn't hurt much if I, whoa, I stopped an hour

She sat me on the sofa and she poured me a glass of gin, now

She got me stoned and she telephoned

And she, whoa, hot turned me in

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Tricky Dicky, he done broke out

Tricky Dicky, you done broke out

Tricky Dicky, you done broke out

All the gals gonna weep and wail

Tricky Dicky's back in jail, hey-hey

Hey, hey
