This Road

This road is new

I remember when this was fields and you

And I would play

Tall grass

We'd watch the poppies sway

Seek and hide

The tall bank would be our mountainside

And we would climb

In our dreams we would touch the sky

And the wind blew up from the sea

And made your hair dance like fire

It's funny how

Things change but still somehow

When I return

To this place

The memories still burn

Where the wild birds did fly

And our dreams once kissed the sky

The memories still alive

This road is new
