The Fox

Cries behind me as I rush across the meadow

Hungry hounds are getting closer all the time

I can hear the sound of horses on the gallop

Don't they know that in God's eyes, it is a crime?

City gent turns on their horses to go faster

Chilling slurs have now become my battle cry

I am tired and my legs are growing weaker

Could it be that I can see death going by?

At last, I have found peace

Alone in the dark

But how long can I stay here?

For I hear the hounds bark

Breaking from cover now

Hearing the trumpet sound, hey

Hissing and panting now

Fleeing across the ground, hey

Dogs coming closer, run

Knowing the time has come, hey

Snarling and snapping, run

Senses becoming numb, hey, hey, hey, hey

Gather round to see the fun

Come and see what we have done

Today's the day we've won our prize

We've cut the fox right down to size

Leave out its mush and leave its head

Perhaps to make a little more

We've got the rush and lots of lead

And smear our faces in its blood

We go on back and drink our fill

We meet again for another kill

We chase the fox right out of breath

And smell again the fear of death
