Twelve year old Lily in the middle of the city with her Dad two steps behind

Anxious cars and JR Richards garbage trucks pass by

She hears the buzz you get when you punch the push button of life

As they wait for the flashing little green man at a downtown traffic light

The little green man knows life is short and moves too fast for fathers

The little green man knows we must treasure love and life and laughter

As the father and daughter cross the street as quickly as they can

For a moment there's a closeness 'cause he knows he can hold her hand

In front of the flashing little green man

He'd wish today that he could change the world and the way it turns

And know the only person who could change the world is her

In a few years time she might get high singing along to Queen

Make love to a bass player in some band, but right now it seems
