If It Rains Today

There's a lot of dust on my windshield, not a single cloud in the big blue sky.

 I see the heat rising off the asphalt, looks like it'll be a long July.

 The ground is cracking, the grass is dying, so damn hot the birds aren't flying.

 Maybe some relief will come my way, if it rains today.

 No cold front on the horizon, I'd give anything for just one drive.

 Praying for a real hard downpour, the torrential kind that'll never stop.

 Turn everything from brown to green, make the world seem sparkling clean.

 I'm kind of thinking life will be okay, if it rains today.
