I could feel the warmth of sunshine

Through the stained glass window panes

Sunday morning praising God

In the pews that raised my faith.

My pastor shared Love’s Story;

‘Bout a Man upon a tree.

All the saints were gathered ‘round me

When I knelt down and believed.

I wish they could see me now

Surrounded by God’s goodness and His love.

Singing praises louder than angels above.

And one day near God’s throne we’ll gather ‘round-

My Papaw tried to stop the world

Just to listen to my needs.

My Mother wore the carpet down

Where she prayed God’s will for me.

Only Heaven knows where I’d be

If they hadn’t paved the way.

Many others go unmentioned

Who were portraits of His grace.
