Papa left me a pan of steel

But I can't play a lick

One day, I'm gonna learn to slide those notes

Play the blues on it

He'd take me to the local jail

Play country gospel songs

"I Saw the Light" and "Amazing Grace"

And the inmates were singing along

We'd finish our schooling on Thursday

'Cause Friday, there's work to do

And we'd get home around 2
