Why was I put in this world?

What's my purpose in this life?

Why do I always struggle so hard

To chase that dollar when I know

I can't take it with me when I die? (When I die)

Well, I try to do more good every day

But I'm only human, and the lord knows I make mistakes (make mistakes)

So when I ask God to forgive me, I know he does (know he does)

But still I beat myself up for the things I've done I'm not proud of

So I try

To figure out why I'm here

I'm just tryin' to survive

Until this body sets my soul free

I'm gonna live while I'm alive

And write my own destiny

It feels like the older that I get

The faster time seems to slip away (slip away)

I know age is just a number

So I'll never let it hold me back or let it get in my way (get in my way)

When they etch those words on the front of my gravestone

I hope it says "hold on 'cause the best is yet to come" (yet to come)

If you could live forever, what dreams would you chase?

And fight like hell until they lay your body down in that grave
