Seasonal Optimism

It’s 3am

I’m covered up to my head in sheets of linen

I’m at it again, awake

On the right side of heaven

Another summer morning and it happened again

Seasonal optimism is going around

The colors are changing

I’m asking myself

In this waking moment

What else would I rather do right now

What else am I waiting for

 

It’s a rush

A chill in the air will begin to win me over

Cause what will the day become

It’s 3 o’clock and we’re already losing the sun

It’s 3am

I’m covered up to my head once again

I missed the spring and the flowers coming in

I missed the window to plant the garden

I’ll admit I’m a season out of touch

Left behind with a fever from the rush

But I don’t mind and I’ll come around next time

The seasons go round and around and around

And then it happened again
