Summer Dust

Under the autumn leaves I found to my surprise The rings we worn summers since The flowers were still alive They say that our own bodies Are made of bones and dust And how we lie beneath the maple tree And pray that the leaves don't cover us Ohhhhh Our hearts were beating Like humming birds that night A restless wind blew them open As the birds were taking flight Young hearts are bright And just as light And blowing in the air tonight She said I want to believe That we can laugh But I know that it's tough when your lost in the leaves And I'm in no rush But if we try to unite then we might just turn back into dust It's only natural for us Walking through this old town I'm reminded Of all the trees that we tore down To let the sun shine in We buried our beating hearts Under the rocks and dirt And now mine is filled with the fallen leaves And if you're not here it's going to burst Ohhhhh Our hearts were beating Like humming birds that night A restless wind blew them open As the birds were taking flight Young hearts are bright And just as light And blowing in the air tonight
