John Wilson 是英國著名的千禧世代指揮家與「管弦樂團訓練師」，他對細節一絲不苟，經常能激發管弦樂團樂手的靈感與潛能。他指揮的管弦樂合奏充滿熱情與個性，同時也具有精準與優美的高度專業性。John Wilson 於 1972 年出生在英國的蓋茨黑德 (Gatehead)，對電影音樂的熱愛，引導他走上學習音樂的道路。他在求學期間就投入指揮領域，甚至在就讀倫敦皇家音樂學院時就創立了屬於自己的 John Wilson 管弦樂團。John Wilson 在 20 世紀 90 年代末尾開始嶄露頭角，他對電影與音樂劇配樂的深入研究與熱衷，使他被米高梅影視公司聘用，並為許多音樂劇重新編配錄音，其中包括《萬花嬉春》(Singin’ in the Rain，1952)、《花都舞影》(An American in Paris) 等輕鬆流行的經典劇目。2000 年，John Wilson 協助作曲家 Bennett 錄製了 BBC 劇集《仇雲蓋堡》(Gormenghast，2000) 的配樂。2017 年，他開始陸續錄製 Bennett 的全套管弦樂作品。在此之前，John Wilson 的另一項紀錄則是錄製了美國作曲家柯普蘭的全系列管弦樂作品 (自 2015 年起)。除了這些創舉，像是康果爾德、Dutlleux 等 20 世紀的作曲家的作品也都曾在他的指揮之下綻放別樣光彩。2018 年，John Wilson 大刀闊斧地改革了倫敦交響樂團，並帶領著這個由眾多頂尖演奏家組成的樂團展開錄音計劃，不僅錄製了許多電影配樂，也以康果爾德的《Symphony》錄音專輯 (2019 年) 獲得獎項肯定。
