Still talking in my sleep

The carnival came acting out some worn out movie scene

A folded cardboard cutout of somebody else's street

A picture of an ordinary life

I buried something deep

And it's pushing up the dandelions

Not bad for a weed

Growing just to float away in pieces on the breeze

And dreaming of an ordinary life

This town's a parking lot

It's busted and it's broken

But I sleep in it a lot

I dream of riding shotgun

Where I find a vacant spot

Some semblance of an ordinary life

And the hopeless night

Full of brittle stars

Slaps you on the wrist

And says you won't get far
