One, two, one, two, three, four

I'm sitting by that railway

Moving people with far-away faces

With their shopping bags

And their uptown places

On Market Street

The cars move quickly

And cattails cover up old drawings

They dance on pink and white

Concrete houses

Of city birds

And loveless spouses

The ground's uneven

And it's hard to be

In a place that was once

So familiar to me

You were wrong
