Why stay wide awake?

Why ask me to stay?

Forgive me for not sitting in the fire with you.

I'm watching through fingers staring at you all,

leaning back waiting for me to catch your fall.

Here we are, jealous of the sunshine in the deep end but breathing, here we are, giving all the reasons for the pretense and leaving.
