Album - Alternative, Music, Rock, Rockabilly, Rock & Roll, College Rock, Surf
Having “Like a Rocket” chosen as the official theme song of the 2002 Daytona 500 was a form of sweet valediction for Reverend Horton Heat, a trio that had been refining their eccentric vision of hot-rod music for more than 15 years. Over the years, "Reverend" Jim Heath and his cohorts had become more grizzled and greasy, qualities they wore with pride. Where the band had once been bouncy and clean-cut, “Loco Gringos Like a Party” and “Suicide Doors” were as rough and smoky as a well-loved leather jacket. At the same time, the frequently flippant Heath could now sing “The Tiny Voice of Reason” with a wizened man’s earnestness.
