Chino Moreno has one of the most distinctive voices in rock, effortlessly flipping from an anguished howl to a crooning lament. Best known as the frontman of alternative Sacramento metal outfit Deftones, his vocals invest the band's music, even at its most aggressive, with an emotional human heart. Continually expanding his repertoire, Moreno has guested with numerous other acts and formed several side projects—including Team Sleep, Palms, and ††† (Crosses)—that cover experimental post-rock to ambient electronica.
