Album - Rock, Music, Country, Contemporary Bluegrass, Adult Alternative, Singer/Songwriter, Contemporary Singer/Songwriter
The sounds of country and Americana infuse Costello’s 2009 album, recorded in Nashville in just three days. “I Felt the Chill Before the Winter Came” is a haunting waltz-time lament written with Loretta Lynn, while he reworks his own “Complicated Shadows” as a country shuffle with guitars that twang and sigh. There are boot-scooters (“Hidden Shame”), heartbreakers (“Changing Partners”), and plenty of tears in beers, as Costello’s mood swings between the back porch and the bar.
