Artist Biography
Formerly members of Barnaby Bye along with ex-Blues Magoos singer Peppy Castro, identical twin brothers Billy and Bobby Alessi (b. 12 July 1953, West Hempstead, Long Island, New York, USA) sprang to fame in 1977 with the UK Top 10 and major European hit single, ‘Oh Lori’ (it failed in their homeland). This sumptuous slice of harmony pop evoked the carefree, summertime atmosphere of a more innocent era. Although subsequent releases continued in a similar vein, they lacked the charm of that initial success. The duo was signed to producer Quincy Jones’ Qwest label in 1982, but this made little difference to Alessi’s subsequent commercial fortunes. The brothers subsequently enjoyed more success as jingle writers, creating US spots for Ford, Slim Fast and Twix. They released a new studio album at the end of 2003.
