As a standout high school basketball player, rapper DC The Don opted to hang up his jersey and focus on music. The decision seems to be paying off.
• DC The Don was born and largely raised in Milwaukee. After some behavioral issues in his teens, he went to live with his father in California in the mid-2010s.
• Standing 6’5”, he became a basketball prodigy for Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California. He trained under Lavar Ball, father of NBA star Lonzo Ball.
• In early 2017, Lonzo Ball featured DC The Don’s first-ever song,” Everything 1K,” in a commercial. The self-released track now has more than 2 million combined streams.
• During his senior year, DC The Don paused basketball to focus on rapping.
• After featuring on Lonzo Ball's popular freestyle over Drake's "Free Smoke" beat, DC guested on two songs off Zo's 2018 album Born 2 Ball.
• DC The Don’s 2020 full-length debut, Come As You Are, takes its name from the classic Nirvana song. DC has cited Kurt Cobain as an inspiration.
