Artist Biography
Formed in Canvey Island in South East England in 1971, Dr. Feelgood were mainstays of the London pub rock circuit, although their manic guitarist Wilko Johnson and sweaty, gravel-voiced singer Lee Brilleaux were the antithesis of the laid-back stage persona of the average pub-rocker. Dr. Feelgood's raw, R&B laced music made them perennial favorites on the UK concert scene, and they were also the first of their ilk to tour the US. They lost some of their momentum following Johnson's departure but, despite a revolving door of personnel, continued to be commercially successful in both the UK and US until Brilleaux's death from lymphoma in 1994.
