Spanish rock duo Estopa consists of brothers José and David Muñoz, who formed the group while working in an automobile parts factory outside Barcelona.
∙ Their 1999 self-titled debut LP was a multi-Platinum sensation that topped the Spanish charts—a feat accomplished by all nine Estopa albums.
∙ Estopa won Best New Artist honors at the 2000 Onda and Amigo Awards, and have since earned more accolades, including a pair of Latin Grammy nominations.
∙ The band celebrated their 10th anniversary with Estopa X Anniversarivm, which revisited songs from their catalog with the help of such collaborators as Macaco, Ana Belén, and Los Chichos.
∙ Esto Es Estopa, a 2014 live album and DVD, featured acoustic versions of their songs, including “La Raja de Tu Falda” with Mexican cumbia singer Celso Piña.
∙ Following the success of 2019’s Fuego—another No. 1 album in Spain—they released an autobiography, El Libro de Estopa.
