Five Fingers of Funk's Popular Music Videos
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. We opened up for Bootsy Collins in Portland in the nineties. Frontman, Pete Miser was sick with a fever of 102 when we performed. By the end of the night his fever was gone. The funk heals all!
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A Tribe Called Quest, The Low End Theory The Meters, Look-Ka Py Py These albums were intensely influential on our sound and lyrical approach. They are master classes in horn arranging, rhythmic pocket, sonics, etc. These are just some of our heroes.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Pass the Vibe” This was the first official Fingers song. I (Pete Miser) started writing the lyrics before the band existed but was only halfway through it when I met the first five members of what would eventually be a nine piece. It's our accidental anthem.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In 1998 we did a US tour opening for Fishbone and Maceo Parker. Every single night was a master class in performance and greatness. We will be forever grateful for the experience.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There is always more room to grow than growth we've experienced. We'd love to work with some of our favorite producers one day. We'd love to do an international tour. We'd love to see what it was like to have a grown up recording budget!
