Artist Biography
After rising to prominence with King Crimson, Greg Lake left to join Emerson, Lake and Palmer, one of the most technically proficient bands of the '70s. Despite considerable commercial success, ELP temporarily disbanded in 1974. Lake resurfaced in 1975, when he released one of the most perennially popular Christmas singles, "I Believe in Father Christmas." The single reached Number Two in the U.K., and was so successful that it was re-released in both 1982 and 1983. When ELP disbanded for a second time in 1980, Lake released his solo debut, GREG LAKE, the following year. His poorly-received 1983 album, MANOUEVRES, prompted Lake to join the supergroup Asia, before reuniting with Emerson, and Carl Palmer replacement Cozy Powell, for 1985’s EMERSON, LAKE AND POWELL.
