Artist Biography
Today, Harold “Hawkshaw” Hawkins is remembered as a victim of country music's own “Day the Music Died,” the 1963 plane crash that killed Hawkins, Patsy Cline, and Cowboy Copas. In his day, though, he had one of the finest voices in Nashville, and he developed a unique style that mixed country boogie, blues, and honky-tonk. An imposing persona with his 6'6” height, good looks, and elegant outfits, he was true star material, but his light was snuffed out at the tragically early age of 41.
