Artist Biography
Inspired by the marathon jamming of the 1960s and the interstellar excursions of psychedelia, Hawkwind was key in the development of space rock. Through countless personnel shifts and dozens of albums, their music joins avant and hard rock, psychedelia, esoteric philosophy, science fiction, creative rebellion, and futuristic settings in compelling ways. This meld is evidenced by their now classic, first six albums issued between 1970 and 1976 that include In Search of Space, Space Ritual, and Warrior on the Edge of Time. Personnel continued to shift over the following decades but recording and touring continued with astonishing regularity. After signing with Cherry Red in late 2015, the band issued a steady stream of albums like 2017's Into the Woods and 2023's The Future Never Waits that proved their creative spirit continued undimmed.
