Artist Biography
Founding member of the legendary punk band the Buzzcocks, Howard Devoto left the band after one EP to form the more obtuse, but equally influential post-punk outfit, Magazine. Once dubbed "the Orson Welles of punk", Devoto pursued an unashamedly intellectual vision of the genre. After four hugely influential, but relatively unsuccessful albums the band split. Devoto released the album JERKY VERSIONS OF THE DREAM in 1983--thus far the only album under his name--before forming the outfit Luxuria. In October 2000, Devoto reunited with Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks to release the well-received album, BUZZKUNST.
