Artist Biography
Pianist Jean-Philippe Collard is often noted as a specialist in the music of Fauré and Saint-Saëns, but his repertory has broadened beyond that initial focus. He has played music from Gershwin to Tchaikovsky, but he remains identified as an exponent of the French pianistic tradition. In 1982, Collard made his recording debut, backing mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade on an album of mélodies by Fauré; five years later, he returned for his solo debut with piano works by the same composer. Collard returned in 2022 with a Fauré piano album and with a performance of concertos by Scriabin and Rimsky-Korsakov with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra.
