Artist Biography
Originally known as Saracuse, UK indie outfit Kasabian signed with a major label in 2002 and debuted with their current name, inspired by Linda Kasabian of the Charles Manson cult.
∙ The band’s first two albums, Kasabian and Empire, were coproduced by Jim Abbiss, who went on to work with Adele, Arctic Monkeys, and Bombay Bicycle Club.
∙ Empire topped the UK charts in 2006 and kicked off the band’s run of five straight No. 1 albums.
∙ 2009’s “Fire,” their highest-charting single, debuted at No. 3 and became the theme song of the English Premier League in 2010.
∙ They have been nominated for dozens of BRIT, NME, and Q Awards (winning more than a few), and their 2009 LP, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize.
∙ Many of the UK’s top festivals have tapped Kasabian as headliners, including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and T in the Park.
∙ To celebrate the unlikely 2016 Premier League championship of their hometown Leicester City F.C., Kasabian performed two stadium concerts and a surprise gig at the team’s victory parade.
