Artist Biography
Classic rock outfit King Harvest formed when four friends from Cornell University reconnected after moving to France to pursue various individual musical interests.
∙ After winning a Parisian rock contest, they released their French-market debut album, 1971’s I Can Tell.
∙ They not only scored the 1971 Cannes-screened French film Le Feu Sacre, but they also appeared in it, portraying fictional band The Bag Men.
∙ Their signature song, 1972’s “Dancing in the Moonlight,” became a Top 20 hit, while UK rockers Toploader produced a multi-Platinum cover version that was a global smash in 2000.
∙ After a mid-’70s breakup, members of King Harvest went on to record and tour with The Beach Boys and play on Dennis Wilson’s debut solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue.
∙ Celebrating 40 years as a band, the four founding members played a reunion show in 2012, less than six months before original vocalist Dave “Doc” Robinson died.
∙ In 2018, duo Jubël and vocalist Neimy released a bouncy dance-pop remix of the band's “Dancing in the Moonlight,” which became a Top 10 hit in Sweden.
