Artist Biography
Popular radio announcer and TV host Marcia Ferreira started pursuing a singing career in the early '80s after she settled down in Brasilia. Identified with Latin pop acts, Ferreira released an album of romantic ballads in 1982 after signing up to Continental Records. Influenced by popular Brazilian artists, Ferreira used to sing at parties when she was a child and, soon after, at small local venues performing along with an accordionist. During the 1980s, the artist divided her career as a performer and host of Brasilia Urgente, a popular TV show. In 1986, Marcia Ferreira released her third album, which included a song written along with José Ary called "Chorando So Foi," popularized throughout Europe by a French-based band called Kaoma in 1989. That song allowed awareness of Brazilian lambada worldwide. ~ Drago Bonacich
