Artist Biography
Mark Williams is a British choral conductor, organist, and harpsichordist. He received organ and academic scholarships that enabled him to study at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was appointed assistant organist at St. Paul's Cathedral in London in 2000, and became the director of music at St. Paul's Cathedral School. In 2006, he left these posts to pursue his concert career. Among the ensembles he has performed with are the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia, the City of London Sinfonia, the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gabrieli Consort, the London Mozart Players, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Williams is the principal conductor of the International William Byrd Festival in Portland, Oregon. He has recorded with the Jesus College Choir, Cambridge, the Trinity College Choir, Cambridge, the City of London Choir, the Cambridge Singers, The King's Consort, The Sixteen, Arcangelo, and the Retrospect Ensemble. Since 2009, Williams has been the director of music and lecturer in music at Jesus College, Cambridge. ~ Blair Sanderson
