Artist Biography
Despite fashioning a highly commercial blend of anthemic rock and pop hooks, the Long Island, New York, USA-based Stage spent several years attempting to translate their critical standing into commercial success. The long-standing core of the band, Ryan Stahr (vocals/guitar/piano), Petr Anselmo (bass), and Greg Meyer (guitar), has been playing together in one form or another since 1993, via high school bands. Although the drum position was never truly solidified, the band still managed to build a regional following from their shows. After issuing a debut album, Historical Underdosing, on their own label, the band found themselves landing opening slots for some of rock’s biggest names, including Bon Jovi and Kiss. In 2000, Stage signed a major label recording contract with Maverick Records, and found a permanent drummer with Justin Parker, a childhood friend of Stahr’s. Working with renowned rock producer Gregg Wattenberg, Stage issued their self-titled major label debut in 2002.
