Artist Biography
Brown's Ferry Four was a country supergroup whose original membership consisted of Grandpa Jones, the Delmore Brothers, and Merle Travis. Though the group only existed for ten years and rarely performed on-stage, they managed to become one of the most beloved country-gospel groups by way of their radio broadcasts and the nearly four-dozen sides they recorded for King Records between 1946 and 1952. Making their debut in 1943, they were unique in performing Black gospel numbers along with material in the Sacred Harp shape-note style. Their debut recording, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" b/w "Just a Little Talk with Jesus," was a major hit, and they remained successful until they disbanded in 1952.
