With honeyed, well-trained vocals and candid lyrics that pull no punches, singer-songwriter Savannah Ré is a flourishing force of Canadian R&B. Born in Scarborough, Ontario, she oscillates freely and openly between high-energy productions (“Closure”) and downtempo ballads (“Last One”). Through it all, Ré is unflinchingly honest and inquisitive about the interpersonal dynamics that drive love and romance, as heard on the wide-eyed 2022 single “About U.” Her cool demeanor as a vocalist belies her vulnerable lyrics (see 2022’s “WTF”), but Ré’s overall delivery—controlled and collected, with an oversized helping of vulnerability—makes for an enticingly relatable listening experience.
