His fleshed-out scores saw smart walking basslines underscoring well-balanced melodies and perfectly effortless progressions (“Good Bait”); other pieces of his involved syrupy brass and woodwind gestures (“Fontainebleau”) and luscious, Hollywood-style strings (“But Beautiful”).
