Brothers Benji and Joel Madden formed pop-punk band Good Charlotte in Maryland in 1996. With a similar glossy yet anti-establishment sound trending in mainstream radio, the group quickly ramped up the respectable sales of their first release into the smash success of sophomore effort The Young and the Hopeless. Over the years, they've experimented with different sounds, briefly tapping into a gloomier metal mood on their third album, lightening up with a club-friendly fourth record, and settling back into their roots with Cardiology in 2010.
