AFI (A Fire Inside) started out as a hardcore punk band before expanding to alternative territories without sacrificing a drop of emotion or mystery. Before they signed to Nitro Records, the band's initial releases, sold only during shows, were EPs that explored hardcore, horror punk, and death rock. In 2003, AFI found mainstream success with “Girl's Not Grey" and "Silver and Cold." The band's 2006 effort, DECEMBERUNDERGROUND, propelled them even further up the charts with the songs "Miss Murder" and "Love Like Winter.”
