In 1985 an Irish folk supergroup was born, when Andy Irvine of Planxty started touring with Kevin Burke and Mícheál Ó Domhnaill from The Bothy Band. They added Jackie Daly of De Dannan a year later and went under the sobriquet The Legends of Irish Music before settling on the name Patrick Street. A few different players floated in and out of the band over the years, like Planxty/Bothy Band alumnus Dónal Lunny and Riverdance composer Bill Whelan, but their intense, exciting approach to Irish folk never flagged.
