Stephen Lynch's career is built on a terrific long con. His soft, angelic voice and deft, guitar-picking fingers make you believe he's an introspective folk singer—until you hear his lyrics, which detail absurd stories about everyday life and surreal narratives about, among other subjects, Jesus's slacker brother, Craig. The Pennsylvania-born Lynch, who starred in the Broadway adaptation of The Wedding Singer in 2006, is a solid musician with an ear for catchy material that neatly disguises his offbeat lyrical focus.
