Few modern gospel acts have crossed over as successfully as Mary Mary. Sisters Tina and Erica Atkins-Campbell aren't shy about blending gospel with sleek R&B production, throbbing bass, and autotune. Born in Inglewood, CA, they grew up in a singing and churchgoing family. Teaming with producer Warryn Campbell, they saw early success as songwriters, composing the hit “Dance” and performing it with Robyn S. in the Eddie Murphy movie Dr. Dolittle. Their debut Columbia single “Shackles (Praise You)” was a pop and R&B breakthrough hit, and 2000's Thankful began a string of platinum albums. A reality TV series, Go Get It, broadened the sisters' already wide appeal.
