As the former frontman of Creed, Scott Stapp remains one of rock’s most identifiable vocalists. Thanks to hits like “Higher” and “With Arms Wide Open”, Creed were one of the most famous bands in the world at the turn of the 2000s. The Florida group released three multi-Platinum albums before their initial break-up in 2004. On the heels of the group’s split, Stapp released his first solo album, The Great Divide; its cinematic, devotional title track became a hit single. The singer’s personal and spiritual struggles would provide harrowing inspiration for his 2010s solo albums. The 2024 release Higher Power finds Stapp combining pop production flourishes with the post-grunge aesthetic of his formative work on singles like the title track and “Black Butterfly”.
