Uncle Acid's twin buzztone guitars spiral around each other like charmed snakes, conjuring the spirits of vintage Black Sabbath and bad-trip psychedelia. Their macabre horror-movie lyrics and eerie chants do an excellent job of disguising the fact that Kevin Starrs' songs, while malevolent, still have a beating pop heart, ripe for the plucking.
