Listen to Space Heater by The Reverend Horton Heat
The Reverend Horton Heat
Space Heater
Album · Rock · 1998
Just when their brand of amiable rockabilly was finally making waves on modern rock radio, the trio of Reverend Horton Heat did an about-face and turned to their dark side with 1998’s Space Heater. Their familiar attempts at vintage Western swing are replaced here with murky and growling punk songs inspired by The Cramps, who'd been one of their earliest influence. The eerie and deranged atmospherics of old B-movies are a clear reference point, resulting in the flamboyant and exploratory instrumentation of “Price of San Jacinto,” “Hello Mrs. Darkness,” and “Mi Amor,” three songs that awakened this band’s vibrant imagination.
