About Youngn Lipz
Smoothly bridging sensitive R&B and shrewd hip-hop, Youngn Lipz has distinguished himself amongst western Sydney’s crowded music scene. Born Filipo Faaoloii in 1999 in Cabramatta, New South Wales, YL debuted with 2019’s “Misunderstood,” a romantic earworm about trying to communicate your true self to a potential lover who has heard some bad intel about you. The single earned multiplatinum sales and an APRA Music Award for Most Performed Hip Hop/Rap Work, while leading to some pivotal guest spots for local and international artists. Equally proud of both his Pacific Islander heritage and his upbringing in Sydney’s western suburbs, YL often weaves the latter setting into his work. “I’m not in love but I got love for the streets,” he repeats on the title track and opener of 2021’s Area Baby. Later in that ARIA-nominated debut album, he meditates upon his origin in a fractured family unit on “Broken Home.” YL continues to combine everyday romance and a firm sense of place on 2026’s Love Songs for the Streets EP, detailing lovesick devotion on lead single “Cater to You.”
