Pain of Salvation is a highly intellectual, progressive rock band based in Sweden. Since the band’s 1997 debut album, ENTROPIA, Pain of Salvation has evolved from a Queensrÿche and Dream Theater-inspired technical metal band into a stylized, heavily syncopated fusion powerhouse. With a penchant for rock opera-styled conceptual albums, the band's lyrical themes encompass heavy musings on God and existence. Pain of Salvation is led by guitarist/vocalist/philosopher Daniel Gildenlöw, who has also made a name for himself in progressive circles performing with OSI, Transatlantic, the Flower Kings, and others.
Members of Pain of Salvation include, or have included, Daniel Gildenlöw, Fredrik Hermansson, Kristoffer Gildenlöw, Johan Langell, Johan Hallgren, Ragnar Solberg, and Mikael Nox Pettersson.
